Your 180DC Vienna Community

By joining 180DC Vienna during your studies, you won’t only get to actively take part in impactful projects and gain valuable professional experience, you will also be part of one of Vienna’s most vibrant student organisation.

From your teammates to the Global network, your first project with 180DC is the beginning of something great!

Project team

This is the team you’ll be part of during the entire project. Which includes:

  • 1 Team Lead: keeping the team on track, structuring deliverables, managing client communication, and ensuring the quality of the final output.
  • 4 Consultants: research problems, develop strategic recommendations, and present solutions directly to the client
  • (1 Client and Consulting Director: supervising the project by providing feedback on deliverables, do regular check-ins with the TL and consultants)

Once the Assessment Center done, the Board will create teams out of best fits for each project. After that, you’ll work alongside your team for the entire semester, and spend more time to socialise together!

Semester cohort

Each semester, we welcome new cohorts of consultants keen to make an impact. It makes 180DC Vienna one of the most diverse student organisations: from 1st-Semester Bachelor students to PhD Candidates, from any Vienna-based university, and of various cultural backgrounds. Your cohort is composed of:

  • 25 Consultants
  • 9 Board Members

Whether through our partners workshops or fun social events, joining 180DC gets you into a whole new community, right here in Vienna!

You need some testimony of that? If you meet anyone from our previous cohorts, ask them about the Running Cocktails – you won’t regret it!

The Mentoring Program

At 180 Degrees Consulting Vienna, we know that growth flourishes through support, collaboration, and shared knowledge. That’s why we started the Mentoring Program – an opportunity designed to empower our new members by pairing them with experienced mentors from our community.

Our Mentoring Program connects current Consultants and Team Leads with former members, including Consultants, Team Leads, and Board Members. These mentors offer insights gained both during their time at 180 Degrees Consulting Vienna and through their professional journeys.

Project Guidance

Support with structuring deliverables, problem-solving strategies, and managing client expectations.

Career Development

Insights into career paths, application tips, and preparation for job interviews.

Personal Coaching

Advice on leadership, time management, and communication skills.

What’s so unique about the mentorship program?

This opportunity isn’t just about knowledge transfer—it’s about building meaningful relationships and creating a culture of continuous growth. Mentors share not only professional expertise but also personal perspectives to help mentees grow both professionally and personally.

Additionally, due to the variety of industries our Mentors are working in (e.g. consulting, pharmacy, environmental services) the program fosters networking opportunities and opens doors to valuable industry connections, preparing members for their future careers.

Whether you’re a new Consultant navigating your first project or a Team Lead aiming to refine your leadership skills, our mentors are here to guide you.

After the project ends

Continue to grow with 180DC Vienna

Handing over your final deliverables is not the end of your 180DC Vienna experience — it’s the beginning of a new chapter. Once you complete your project, you join a community that continues to grow, evolve, and support one another long after university life moves on.

At 180DC Vienna, we believe that impact doesn’t stop at the project level. Many of our former consultants stay engaged by taking on new roles within the branch, contributing to internal development, or joining the organisational board to help shape the future of our work. Others choose a lighter but equally meaningful path by becoming part of our Alumni Network, a space designed for connection, learning, and long‑term community building.

Consultant

As a consultant, you’ll join a 5 people team to deliver a semester-long and non-profit based consulting project. You’ll research problems, develop strategic recommendations, and present solutions directly to the client — committing roughly 5–10 hours per week.

Along the way, you’ll build practical skills in problem-solving, communication, and client management, supported by professional coaching, workshops, and a mentor from the industry. No business background required — just motivation and a passion for social impact.

Team Lead

As a Team Lead, you take on a step up from consulting — guiding and managing your team throughout the entire semester-long project. You’re responsible for keeping the team on track, structuring deliverables, managing client communication, and ensuring the quality of the final output. An ideal role for people looking for experience in project management and leadership in a consulting environment.

Although it’s a role best suited for those who have already gained experience in consulting and are ready to take the next step, we welcome any other leadership experience as well.

Senior Consultant

As a Senior Consultant, you bring prior project experience to the table — and the best part? No need to reapply. Having already completed a project with 180DC, you’re automatically eligible to take on a second one.

You’ll step into a more responsible role, helping to guide newer consultants while continuing to grow your own skills. With a deeper understanding of the consulting process, you’ll contribute to delivering even higher-quality solutions for the organisations you work with.

Board Member

As a Board Member, you step beyond project work and take on the responsibility of running the branch itself. Each board role focuses on a specific area — whether that’s sourcing and managing client projects, building partnerships with sponsors and cooperations, overseeing marketing and communications, organizing community events, or handling finance and operations.

Rather than working on a single project, you’re responsible for the bigger picture — making sure the entire branch runs effectively and continues to grow its impact.

Campus Ambassador

As a Campus Ambassador, you support the board and play a key role in shaping the upcoming consulting cycle. You’ll contribute to recruitment efforts by engaging with prospective members, representing 180 Degrees Consulting Vienna at university events, and promoting our mission and values across campus.

Before transitioning into your role as a Senior Consultant or Team Lead on a new project, you help ensure a strong and motivated cohort by identifying talented candidates and strengthening our presence at Vienna- based universities.

President

As President, you’re responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the branch. You oversee all departments, ensure the board is aligned and functioning effectively, and serve as the main representative of 180DC Vienna externally — whether that’s engaging with coporate partners, the global 180DC network, or the wider community.

It’s the most senior role within the branch, requiring a strong vision for growth, excellent leadership, and the ability to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes so that consultants, team leads, and board members can do their best work.

The Alumni Network

The 180DC Vienna Alumni Network brings together former consultants who have shaped our branch since its founding in 2013. Today, our alumni work across consulting, technology, entrepreneurship, public policy, and many other fields — forming a diverse community of professionals who continue to embody the spirit of impact.

Our alumni network aims to create meaningful opportunities for connection, knowledge‑sharing, and long‑term engagement. Through events, panel discussions, mentoring formats, and informal meetups, we provide spaces where alumni can reconnect with each other, support current consultants, and contribute to the future of 180DC Vienna.

Whether you were part of 180DC last semester or several years ago, you remain an essential part of our story. The alumni network is here to help you stay connected, exchange insights, and continue making an impact beyond your time at the branch.
